Board of Directors

Our volunteer, 11-member Board of Directors governs all the decisions made at Kansas Christian Home. They continuously work hard to craft sound policy and provide financial oversight that benefits our residents and improves their quality of life.

Staff Members:

Karen Sturchio, Chief Executive Officer
Karen became the permanent CEO of Kansas Christian Home in June 2016. Karen most recently served in the Via Christi Health system as the Executive Director for Via Christi HOPE. She is a solid leader who demonstrates her leadership and industry knowledge daily in operations, quality improvement, and employee engagement. Karen has been married for 31 years and has three adult children. She was excited to welcome the birth of her fourth grandchild in July 2016. In Karen’s free time, she considers herself a news junkie and enjoys reading and research.

Catherine Allen-Franklin, Director of Social Services
Catherine joined the KCH staff in August 2016. She has spent five years working in social services for the elderly. Catherine lives in Wichita with her three children and dog. She graduated from Wichita State University with her undergraduate and graduate degrees. In her spare time, she also enjoys being a hairstylist and makeup artist. She also enjoys playing women’s football.

Tasha Alvarez, Director of Nursing
Tasha has worked at KCH since 2008, becoming the Director of Nursing in June 2016. She was born and raised in Newton. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her daughter Liliana.

Andrew Hudspeth, Director of Human Resources

Andrew is a strategic leader and business professional with more than 10 years experience in Human Resources.  He looks forward to implementing his strategic thinking, communication, and customer service skills to build and connect all parties of the business staff; listening to their needs, providing workable solutions, and producing results.  Andrew is the proud and happy husband to Sandy and the father of their four children together.

Robert Hunter, Director of Plant Operations
Robert came to Kansas Christian Home in October 2016. He has worked in plant operations for seven years, coming to KCH from Catholic Care in Wichita. Robert lives in Wichita and has two children who occupy much of his spare time.

 

Rosie Laney, Director of Dietary Services

Rosie joined the  KCH team in August 2016.  She lives in Wichita, is married and has three children and two dogs.  Rosie enjoys spending time with family and friends, and enjoys traveling and gardening.

Diana Leaf, Chaplain
Diana Leaf has many years of experience as a hospital chaplain, a pastoral counselor, and an educator. She also has experience in pastorates in both Oklahoma and Iowa, which have blessed and shaped her approach to ministry. Diana believes it is a privilege and honor to be serving as Chaplain to the residents and staff of Kansas Christian Home, and to be a part of the supportive and caring community.

Jo Lehrman, Senior Living Consultant
Jo has been at KCH since 2004, after being a stay at home mom.  She began her journey as receptionist/accounts payable associate then moved into the HR Assistant position. Now, she is the Senior Living Consultant (Sales & Marketing).  She has three grown children, 1 daughter and 2 sons.  Recently, she added a grandson to the family list! Jo says she loves being a grandma.

Jessica Medrano, Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor
Jessica was born and raised in Newton. She started working at KCH in 1984 at the age of 14 as a dining room aide. After she graduated from Newton High School, she started working in Dietary. Jessica left for a few months to work at a family restaurant and came back to KCH for good. Eventually she transferred to Environmental Services. Jessica recently became Supervisor and is enjoying the added responsibility. She is married with 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy.

Kala Shaw, Campus Services Director/LPN
Kayla’s love for geriatrics comes from her grandparents who were her rock in life growing up. She has been in long-term care and geriatric nursing for more than 25 years. She is married to George Whiteside, and lives in Valley Center, KS.  They have eight grown children and are currently enjoying being grandparents as well! Kayla is a Licensed Practical Nurse of 20 years and the Campus Services Director at Kansas Christian Home. She is currently attending Hutchinson Community College to pursue her Registered Nurse degree, and says that she feels truly blessed to have this opportunity to serve the residents here at Kansas Christian Home.
